N is a 24-year-old young woman. She works in a tourist hotel. She is happy to have a good job but sometimes feels ostracized because she is a Christian. However, she does find some co-workers who want to read the stories of Christ, and they gather over dinner and discuss the stories together. N is lonely because her hours don’t allow her to fellowship with other Christians. Pray that those who are studying the Word with N will accept Christ and become a church for her.

(Luke 24:47) Give your followers in Tunisia a burning passion for the great commission and your global mission, even as they grow in boldness within their own borders.

Unemployed youth “There’s just no future here,” he said, eyes hollow with the all-too-familiar combination of exhaustion, hopelessness, boredom, and despair. Ismail’s abusive childhood left him unable to concentrate in school, so dropping out by junior high was the only viable option. He had tried it all—selling smuggled fuel, working for a relative’s hotel infamous for its nightlife and prostitution. The money he collected to work towards a driver’s license to get into commercial transport was needed more urgently for a medical emergency. Desperation is an understatement. He stood his ground against Islamic extremists who prowled around rural or urban slum cafés, preying on young, unemployed men like himself, eager to capitalize on their hopelessness and enroll them in terrorist endeavours. Every year, Ismail and hundreds of young men in his predicament risk their lives for the promise of what could happen if only they could find passage to the European side of the Mediterranean. What the smiling selfie of your old neighbour standing in front of the Eiffel Tower doesn’t tell you is that the majority of these undocumented young men are at best met with a life of wandering—aimless, jobless, even homeless—and, at worst, are swallowed by the sea or met with a bullet. May will never call home again. Pray for the throngs of hopeless young men—that they will find true belonging and purpose in the One who created them and longs to see them live in their full identity as His adopted sons.
