Strategic prayer for a Disciple Making Movement

Prayer Fuel

Day 10

Our Treasure in Jesus

God, we love you! As your Church, help us do what it takes to let the people of Tunisia grasp the Good News that we are new creations IN Christ! (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Pray for a Tunisian Believer

AA is 20 years old and accepted Christ this past year. He has shared the gospel with his mother, father, sister, and friends. He is even sharing his faith online with his friends. Though people haven’t yet accepted the message, he continues to share. Pray that God will give AA the strength to succeed and finances to complete his studies. Pray that the seeds that have been planted will bear fruit.

Prayer for Boldness

“If others share this rightful claim on you, do not we even more? Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right, but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 9:12 ESV).

Jesus, give the church in Tunisia grace to cherish your name above all else, that they would be equipped to endure in hope any measure of suffering or challenge, rather than see an obstacle placed in the way of your gospel. (1 Corinthians 9:12) The challenges and obstacles to the advance of the gospel in Tunisia are many, but as the church lays down it’s rights and claims, you are faithful to bear the fruit of glory from the tree of suffering. May it be so in Tunisia.

Pray for a Segment of Society

Tour guides “Welcome to Tunisia!” Nabil said in his nearly-perfect English as he loaded the group’s baggage and heartily welcomed the travellers at the international arrivals gate. He knew how to be perfectly professionally polite and to offer a hearty handshake, but to avoid what could be construed as over-friendliness in the Mediterranean cheek kiss greeting he would use with another North African. As Nabil hurtled down the highway to the five-star hotel, he crafted a beautiful introduction to his beloved country. His guests were comfortable with him, and he had been around the industry long enough to know how to make people feel safe in a bustling market crowded with people hawking their wares, how to be one step ahead of their incessant need for toilet paper, how to prep them for the whole, grilled fish that will be staring up at them from their dinner plate, how to pretend to care that their pillows were too hard or their towels didn’t match. He sighed as the jet-lagged travellers fell asleep in the agency’s minibus. His daughter would be getting home from preschool shortly and his wife would be putting spicy soup on the table for his mother. It had been a while since he was home and it would be another week or so. Nostalgia was eclipsed by the gratitude he felt for a job that he genuinely enjoyed. Unlike others in the country’s most important industry, he tried to keep his moral compass aligned while away from his family, leading tours. Mostly he was satisfied with his lot in life… though the way these Western people played with money, assumed different gender roles, and welcomed his ideas and beliefs was immensely intriguing some days. Pray for tour guides like Nabil, that their exposure to other cultures and worldviews would lead them to greater openness to investigate and receive Jesus.
